On-Page SEO Services
On-page SEO services in Surrey. Make sure every page on your site is working as hard as it should.
You can have the right technical foundations and strong backlinks, but if the content and structure of your pages isn’t right, you’re leaving rankings on the table. On-page SEO is the work that makes each individual page as relevant, as clear and as compelling to search engines as it can be.
We provide on-page SEO services for established businesses in Surrey. Page by page, we optimise what’s there, fix what’s holding rankings back and structure content in a way that search engines understand and real people find useful.
Our Approach
On-page SEO built around real goals. Not just ranking signals.
Every on-page SEO programme we run starts with understanding which pages matter most to your business, which searches you need to appear for and what a visitor needs to understand, believe and do when they land on each one. That thinking shapes every optimisation decision.
1. Grounded in what your audience is actually searching for.
On-page optimisation starts with keyword research that’s specific to each page’s purpose. We identify the terms your ideal customers use at different stages of their decision-making process and make sure each page is aligned with those searches.
2. Page structure that communicates clearly to search engines and people.
Headings, metadata, internal links, image tags and content hierarchy, all assessed and optimised. A page that’s structured correctly tells search engines exactly what it’s about and who it’s for. One that isn’t makes life harder for both search engines and users.
3. Content that earns rankings and keeps people reading.
On-page SEO isn’t just about metadata. The quality, depth and relevance of the content on each page directly affects how well it ranks and how well it converts. You get content recommendations – and content where needed – that works for both search engines and the people using them.
The Difference It Makes
What changes when every page on your site is properly optimised.
Pages that should rank start ranking.
On-page issues are often the hidden reason why pages with good backlinks and clean technical foundations still don’t rank where they should. Fixing them can unlock improvements without additional link building or technical work. The opportunity was already there, it simply wasn’t being realised.
A stronger base for every other SEO activity.
On-page SEO is the foundation that makes link building and technical work pay off properly. Content that’s well-structured and clearly relevant earns links more easily and converts better once it ranks. Get the pages right and everything else in the programme performs better.
More of the right visitors finding the right pages.
When pages are optimised around the specific searches your ideal customers are making, the traffic they attract is more relevant and more likely to convert. Better targeting means more relevant enquiries, not simply more traffic.
What We Cover
A full on-page SEO service, working through every element that affects how pages rank.
On-page SEO covers a range of interconnected elements. Here is what we work through on every page we optimise.
Keyword Research & Page Targeting
Every page should have a clear primary keyword target and a supporting set of related terms. We identify the right keywords for each page based on search volume, commercial intent and how well your site is currently positioned to rank for them.
Page Titles & Meta Descriptions
Page titles help search engines understand what a page is about and play an important role in attracting clicks from search results. Meta descriptions don’t directly affect rankings, but they can influence whether someone chooses your result over another. Both are written to be accurate, compelling and aligned with the search terms that matter. Not generated, duplicated or left as default CMS values.
Heading Structure & Content Hierarchy
H1, H2 and H3 headings signal what a page is about and how its content is structured. We review and rewrite heading structures to make sure they reflect keyword targets, support the content hierarchy and make the page genuinely easier to navigate for both search engines and readers.
Content Optimisation & Development
The quality, depth and relevance of page content all influence how well a page performs in search. We assess each page against what ranks for the target keyword and recommend — or write — content that covers the topic thoroughly, answers the questions searchers are asking and does so in a way that reflects your expertise.
Internal Linking
How pages link to each other tells search engines what your most important content is and how your site is organised. We review and improve your internal linking structure so that authority flows to the pages that matter most and every relevant page gets the internal support it needs.
Image Optimisation & Alt Text
Images that are correctly named, sized and tagged contribute to page relevance and help pages rank in image search. We review and optimise image alt text, file names and sizes as part of every on-page audit.
URL Structure
Clear, descriptive URLs help search engines understand page content and support broader optimisation efforts. We review URL structures across your site and recommend improvements where they’ll make a difference — without recommending changes that would disrupt existing rankings.
Schema Markup & Structured Data
Adding structured data to pages helps search engines understand the content and can earn rich results — star ratings, FAQ dropdowns, product information — that improve visibility and click-through rates in search results.
How It Works
Our on-page SEO process. Page by page, priority by priority.
Here is what an on-page SEO programme looks like from audit to results.
Stage One
On-Page Audit
A thorough review of your current site’s on-page SEO: keyword targeting by page, title and meta quality, heading structure, content depth, internal linking and structured data. You get a clear, prioritised picture of what’s missing and what’s holding rankings back — before any optimisation work begins.
Stage Two
Planning & Priorities
From the audit, we agree which pages to prioritise based on commercial impact and ranking opportunity. You see exactly what we’re going to do and why, not just a generic list of recommendations that could apply to any website.
Stage Three
Optimisation
Page by page, we implement the agreed optimisations by rewriting titles and meta descriptions, restructuring headings, improving content, fixing internal links and adding structured data.
Page by page, we implement the agreed optimisations by rewriting titles and meta descriptions, restructuring headings, improving content, fixing internal links and adding structured data. Each change is explained so you understand what was done and why it will make a difference.
Stage Four
Reporting & Refinement
Every month, clear reporting on ranking movements against the pages we’ve optimised, what’s changed and what’s planned next.
On-page SEO isn’t a one-time task, as we refine as we learn what’s working and keep pace with how your site evolves.

What our clients say
Businesses we've helped grow.
In their own words.
We’ve worked with businesses across a whole range of industries over the years. Here’s what some of them have to say about working with us.
After 13+ years running a complex business, restaurant, live music and takeaways, we refreshed our website. Unlike my previous designer, Clever Marketing understood my business model first, then designed something that goes above and beyond.
Have enjoyed working with Clever Marketing on the the design and build of our new website, and digital marketing. From the creative to the technical, they are an impressive team and, crucially, a pleasure to deal with day-to-day. Would use them again.
Having worked with Harry and the team for many years now, we always know that we can reach out with a project and get a quick response and a great piece of work. Everyone is so friendly and eager to help. Matched with competitive pricing its hard to see a reason to not rate them highly.
I worked with Clever Marketing on a website for a unique audience. The team were always available to discuss and amend, bringing expertise to guide what best suited our audience. A pleasure to work with, and we’d recommend them.
Clever Marketing came highly recommended for our new multi-site website. Despite the complexity, they made it seamless, exceeded expectations and even helped with branding. Now working together on digital marketing.
We’ve partnered with Clever Marketing for almost 10 months, using their Google PPC campaigns for our recruitment business, and they’ve exceeded expectations, consistently high-quality enquiries, backed by thorough monthly reports.
Common Questions
The questions worth asking before you start an on-page SEO programme.
What is on-page SEO?
On-page SEO is the practice of optimising the individual pages of your website to improve how well they rank in search results and how clearly they communicate to the people who land on them. It covers everything on and within the page itself: page titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, content, internal links, image tags, URL structure and structured data. It’s distinct from off-page SEO (links from other websites) and technical SEO (how your site is built and performs), though all three work together.
What's the difference between on-page SEO and off-page SEO?
On-page SEO covers everything you control on your own website: the content, the structure, the metadata and the internal linking. Off-page SEO covers everything outside it: links from other websites, brand mentions and external authority signals. Both matter, but on-page issues can actively prevent off-page investment from paying off. Getting the pages right first means everything else in your SEO programme works harder.
How long does on-page SEO take to show results?
Some on-page changes, particularly title tag and meta description improvements, can produce ranking and click-through improvements within a few weeks once Google re-crawls the affected pages. Content improvements typically take a little longer to feed through to rankings. We’ll give you realistic expectations for each page based on its current position and the competitiveness of its target keyword.
Do you write the content as well as optimise it?
Yes. We can assess existing content and recommend changes, rewrite it ourselves or produce new content from scratch. If you have a team that handles content, we’ll provide clear briefs and guidance. If you’d rather we handle it entirely, we can do that too. Either way, the content that goes on the page meets the brief from both an SEO and a reader perspective.
How many pages do you optimise at once?
It depends on the scope of the programme. We prioritise by what’s likely to make the biggest difference, starting with the pages most likely to generate enquiries or revenue when they improve, and work through them in the right order rather than trying to do everything at once. For most businesses, a focused programme on the ten to twenty most important pages produces better results faster than a broad approach across everything.
Can you do on-page SEO for an existing site without rebuilding it?
Yes. On-page SEO optimisations are made within your existing CMS, we don’t need to touch the design or development of the site. Most of the changes are made directly in your WordPress admin or equivalent. For anything that requires developer involvement, we provide clear specifications.
Do you offer on-page SEO alongside technical SEO and link building?
Yes. On-page SEO, technical SEO and off-page authority building all work together and we manage all three as part of a full SEO programme. Running them together is more efficient than separate programmes — the same keyword research informs all three, and we can prioritise the right activity for each page at the right time.
The next step
On-page SEO services that make every page on your site work harder. Let's get started.
Whether you’re starting from scratch on SEO or looking to get more from a site that’s already ranking in some areas, the first step is a straightforward conversation. We’ll look at how your key pages are performing, where the biggest opportunities sit and what a focused on-page SEO programme would involve.
On that call we’ll cover:
- Which pages on your site have the strongest ranking opportunities and what’s holding them back
- An honest assessment of your current on-page SEO and where the quickest wins are
- What a structured on-page SEO programme would look like, what it involves and what to expect
- How on-page SEO fits alongside your wider SEO and marketing activity
You’ll leave with a clear view of your next steps, whether that’s working with us or not.
